Travel Alert – COVID-19 Testing Requirement Lifted for Air Travelers Entering the US
On June 10, 2022, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that the requirement that all international travelers to the US possess proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to boarding a flight to will be rescinded.
The authors of this blog couldn’t be any more thrilled about this announcement as we board a flight to the US in the morning to attend the American Immigration Lawyers Association Annual Conference in New York.
The change, affecting all international air travelers regardless of vaccination status, became effective at 12:01 AM ET, Sunday, June 12, 2022, and will be reassessed by CDC after 90 days in case the need to reinstate the requirement should become necessary. It also marks the first time since January 2021 that proof of a negative test or proof of recent recovery from COVID-19 will not be required in order to enter the US via flight.
