Description
US Immigration Options for Canadian Investors, Entrepreneurs, and Snowbirds
The Trump Administration has caused both excitement and confusion with its recent announcement of a new “Gold Card.” Reports suggest that, for a $5 million USD fee, foreigners can obtain permanent residence with the ability to live and work in the US along with a path to a citizenship.
What the Trump Administration omitted in this announcement was that the existing E-2 Treaty Investor Program and the EB-5 Regional Center Investor Program already offer these benefits in combination for a substantially lower cost.
Join us to cut through the Gold Card noise and learn how the E-2 and EB-5 Investor programs can work separately or in tandem for you, depending on your US immigration goals.
The E-2 Treaty Investor program permits Canadian citizens and companies who have made a “substantial investment” in a new or existing US enterprise to live and work in the US on a part-time or full-time basis in renewable five-year increments.
The EB-5 Regional Center Investor program allows foreign investors to obtain permanent residency and potentially eventual citizenship through passive investment by investing a minimum of $800,000 in a USCIS-designated regional center, which pools investments to fund job-creating projects.
Topics discussed in the webinar include:
- What are the E-2 Treaty Investor nonimmigrant visa and EB-5 Regional Center Investor immigrant visa programs, and what are their benefits?
- What are each program’s respective eligibility requirements?
- Are there other issues to consider when obtaining an E-2 Treaty Investor visa?
- Are there any Canadian-specific tax considerations for those obtaining US Lawful Permanent Residence (Green Card) through an EB-5 regional center investment?
- Does the potential creation of a “Gold Card” affect either of these existing programs?
Join us virtually to learn how the E-2 and/or EB-5 visa programs can support your US Immigration goals.
